This book deals with the tales on how Lord Krishna or as depicted in this book, Govinda with the help of the five Pandava brothers, manages to overthrow the then Emperor Jarasandha and remake the glorious Aryavarta in their own terms.

A —Reviewed by Anuj Sharma — At the young and naive age of six, my grandmother got me married. The book contains all the necessary events that take places before the Kurukshetra. What I loved was the total perspective change I had for Duryodhana and Yudhishtira.
If only chapters were designed such a way that we only get to read particular chapter in particular POV Like game of thrones aaryavarta, book would have become more fluid and smooth.
Currently on the last few Chapters of Govinda: Perhaps I crhonicles what many call, anal, but I cannot help wincing when I read “revert back” and “involuntary shiver”.
I was frankly, not looking for it, to hit the levels of “Jaya” by Devdutt Patnaik a personal favorite in terms of Mahabharat based storiesbut I was expecting something riveting, knowing that it was to be from Lord Krishna’s view.
Trivia About Govinda The Arya Feb 19, Atula Gupta rated it really liked it. Just like the folklore goes, ‘never judge a book by its cover. The story begins in the past and introduces a land that is slowly decaying from within. Just go for it! Another thing that highly pleased me was the treatment Krishna Udayasankar has given to characters like Shikandin, Panchali, and Duryodhana.
But to read the same old tales, same fables, but with a new prism is refereshing change. I have had to go deal with real life problems and real life commitments before I could plunge into the fictitious. Even with pages, this book is not a drag but fast-pace Govinda: The Aryavarta Chronicles is a series of books written by the incomparable Krishna Udayasankar.
Krishna does exceptionally well to make it interesting for those who know the stereotypes but yearn for someone to connect all the stories. Too often you read books by first time authors which have good ideas and story lines bu are let down by weak characterisation.

Panchali had a great understanding of the balance between being bold and forthright, and being submissive and dutiful. As far as I know, Krishna’s dynasty is well documented in Bhagavatha Purana so much so that there is no confusion as to who his son, grandson or great grandson is for that matter. Chronkcles fanfare, no muses singing his praises with their lyres fully tuned etc. T or Iravati Karve.
Yet another battle of supremacy begins with the death of the last Secret Keeper of the Firewrights as the mighty powers clash together in the ultimate test of honor and pride. The female characters are not a support system, but more of characters with importance. While he doesn’t precisely yearn for Panchali, there is a heavy attraction there to the other Krishna.
